AAPI Lecture Series: Being Asian American

Don is the President of the Dayton Chapter Japanese American Citizens League and the Chairperson of the Asian American Council of Greater Dayton. He makes presentations on Japanese American history, cultural understanding, diversity, and improving community relations. He served as the director of Development and Finance of the Wesley Community Center in Dayton, Ohio from 2008 until his retirement in 2013. Throughout his career he worked for non-profit organizations in the areas of community engagement, group facilitation, advocacy, diversity training, program administration, and organizational development. In his talk, he will discuss on being an Asian American, the historic barriers used against Asian Americans, the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II, and challenges we face as Asian Americans today in Ohio.
